Condensate Pump Trays for Display Cabinets and Cold Rooms

Aquamat condensate pump trays remove condensate from refrigerated display cabinets and cold rooms where there’s no fall to a drain. Stainless steel tanks, a 12 metre lift, and a fitted plug and lead so they run straight out of the box. Designed and built in Shipley, West Yorkshire for over 30 years.

Check your lift before you choose

The Mark 3, 7 and 8 will lift to 12 metres of total head. The Mark 9 macerator will lift to 6 metres. Pushing a macerator beyond that is the usual cause of impellor failure, so if your drain run is long or high, the macerator isn’t the right unit.

Total head includes the vertical lift plus the resistance of the horizontal run, so measure the whole route rather than just the height. If you’re not sure, call and we’ll work it out with you.

Standard or alarmed? What the “A” means

Every model is available with a high level alarm. The alarmed version carries an “A” — a Mark 3A is a Mark 3 with the alarm fitted, and it adds roughly £30.

On the Mark 3, 7 and 8 the alarm is a second float switch operating a relay with normally open contacts. On the Mark 9A it’s a second float switch you can wire to a building monitoring system.

In both cases you get a volt-free contact to wire into whatever you’re already using — a BMS, a remote panel, a beacon. That matters because the first sign of a failed pump is usually water on the floor, and by then the damage is done. On an unattended cold room, or a tray sitting out of sight under a cabinet run, the alarm is what turns a flood into a maintenance call.

Common to every Aquamat

304 stainless steel tank20 SWG throughout, not plastic. These units live under refrigeration for years.

Two-lid accessOne lid marked for routine cleaning, a separate one for engineer service access.

Fitted plug and leadSupplied with a 5A fused plug and 2 metres of mains cable. No electrician needed to commission.

Non-return valve fittedInside the control compartment as standard, so no short cycling from backflow.

Independently certifiedTested to the Low Voltage and EMC directives, CE compliant.

12 month warrantyEvery unit is fully tested before it leaves the works.

Spares next day, ordered by 3pm

Every wearing part is available separately — pump motors, float switches, PCBs, non-return valves, tank connectors and mesh filters. Spares are normally held ex-stock for next day delivery if ordered by 3pm.

A failed float switch or a blocked non-return valve doesn’t mean replacing a £500 unit. We also still support the discontinued Mark 5.

Custom units

If none of the four fits — an unusual footprint, higher capacity, a specific inlet or discharge arrangement — we design and build custom condensate removal pump trays for larger customers. Call to talk through the application.

Common questions

When do I need a pump tray rather than gravity drainage?

Whenever there’s no fall available to a drain — an island cabinet in the middle of a shop floor, a basement cold room, a fit-out where the waste connection is on the far side of the building. The tray collects the condensate and lifts it to wherever the drain is, up to 12 metres of total head.

Which model fits under my cabinet?

Measure the clearance under the cabinet base. The Mark 3 is 80mm high and clears most retail cabinets, at 620 × 235mm on plan. The Mark 7 is the smallest at 435 × 205 × 85mm, for a single cabinet where floor space is the constraint. The Mark 8 mounts on a wall instead, at 425 × 215 × 100mm.

How much condensate can each unit handle?

All four pump 500 litres an hour with no lift, dropping to 250 litres an hour at maximum head. The difference is tank size and inlets: the Mark 3 holds 6 litres and takes four inlets, so it copes with the condensate from up to four 12ft display cabinets. The Mark 7 holds 2½ litres and is sized for one cabinet.

What does the alarm actually do?

It’s a second float switch operating a relay with normally open contacts, triggering if the water level rises past the working range. You wire it into a BMS, a remote panel or a beacon — whatever you already monitor. On the Mark 9A the second float switch is intended for connection to a building monitoring system.

Do I need an electrician to install one?

No. Every unit ships with a 5A fused plug and 2 metres of mains cable fitted, so it plugs into a standard socket. The install work is positioning the tray on a level surface, connecting the inlet hoses without kinks, and running the outlet — which must not be reduced below 12mm (20mm on the Mark 9).

Why does the Mark 9 only lift 6 metres when the others do 12?

It’s a macerator rather than a centrifugal pump, and the trade-off for handling solids is reduced head. Running one beyond 6 metres, or against a kinked or blocked discharge, is the usual cause of impellor failure. If you need both solids handling and a long run, call us before ordering.

What maintenance do they need?

Periodic cleaning of the tank and filtering grill, at a frequency set by local conditions. Don’t use concentrated bleach or aggressive cleaning agents — if they’re used at all they must be pre-diluted, and the system flushed through with several litres of water afterwards to prevent corrosion. Most failures come down to debris in the tray or kinks and blockages in the pipework.

Can I get parts for an older Aquamat?

Yes. Spares are held for the Mark 3, 7, 8 and 9, and for the discontinued Mark 5 — pump motors, PCBs, float switches, non-return valves, tank connectors and more, normally ex-stock for next day delivery if ordered by 3pm.

Not sure which one you need?

Tell us the cabinet or cold room, the clearance you’ve got and roughly how far the waste has to travel. We’ve been building these for 30 years — it’s usually a two minute conversation.
